Glad I'm not the Mazda

I've been meaning to blog about my internship and update you on how much I've learned and grown since I've finished, yes FINISHED my clinical experience in the hospital (10 weeks). But this bump happened.

Magic Eye?

Or.....my rear window?

Ouch!! That's my poor car. I recently got rear ended (2 months ago) and had to have a paint touch up on my bumper, that was a waste. This is going to take a bit more.

Hey on the bright side I'll be getting a new key hole on my trunk which someone unsuccessfully tried to break into 2 years ago. And I'm ok!! I'd like to thank the inventor of the seat belt at this time as well. I had a little bit of whip lash and a lot of wanting Ben to hurry and save me. The crazy thing is I saw the car coming at me and knew they were going to hit me. Once they hit me I could hear the glass crackling and breaking, but it never fell in completely. I kinda want to break the window myself before it goes to the collision repair shop, but that may be dangerous.
There she goes on the tow truck. Ben came and rescued me 20 minutes after it happened. Good thing I have a bike!

Friday the 13th, Welcomes HOME....

.....Elder Matsuura

Ben and I were able to leave work/internship early to be at the Idaho Falls airport. The drive from Ogden makes the trip to Idaho seem short.

As we were driving to the airport we saw a plane in the sky and knew it was Chet's plane. My mom was telling my dad to drive faster. No worries though Friday the 13th didn't get us down. We rolled out the big banner and had 5 minutes to spare before Chet walked down the stairs. I was expecting a kimchi smelling brother, but he smelt normal. I thought he'd be a little awkward but he wasn't. He did manage to bring frozen kimchi in his bags though.

And the moment I have been waiting for.....

They meet!! I think it went well.
(Ben's smiling, I don't know what Chet's face looks like, I need to get the picture from the other side to find out)

As I watched Chet and talked with him he laughed and joked around with people as he always did. Ben's mom asked me if Chet left a boy and came back a man? Yes, Chet you are now a MAN! Ha but he's still working on his beard.

Welcome Chettar Cheese. We're happy you're home, especially mom. She's been keeping track of the days faithfully on her missionary chart. She has the days color coated by zones and even added extra circles for when he extended. My phone alerted me to e-mail Chet, but I'll just have to change the name to Ross since he leaves in about a month. 감사합니다 Kamsahamnida

Big, Huge....

MARSHMALLOWS! You can only hope they are coming to a store near you. They are worth it, every penny.
We went to a bon fire last night and roasted away. We had a raccoon visitor, and he wanted to join in on the fun. We had to scare the raccoon away more than a dozen times, as I jumped up in my chair. They scare me, but I loved the smores!

Proof there is farmer in my blood

This post is a tribute to my dad, the best potato farmer in Idaho, hands down! My house was surrounded by farmers and both my grandparents love to garden, so growing things is in my blood. I don't grow potatoes because I can't compete. I stick with these beauties.

The first signs of any life.
The little green oval ball is my baby tomato. MMMmm I love tomatoes.
FYI tomatoes contain a phytochemical, lycopene, which helps prevent heart disease. Stick with the red fruits and veggies they're packed full of it.

Compared to all the space I am use to Idaho, this is what I have to work with, but I'll use it!
The only place for me to grow my tomatoes was the bush area in front of our condo. So here's my first little garden. I like the cat who wanted to be in the picture too, he's the guard of the garden, or eyeing my little tomato, don't blame him. Maybe in a few years I'll get an upgrade!

Here's Where I've Been Working

So here's where I've been working. Dad of the Year guessed it (keep your eyes open for your prize!) I wish I would have been a famous nutrition celebrity on KSL though.

I've been carrying around this bag walkin down the street. I actually haven't been too busy with the Census because I can call the people first and if they don't answer then I get to go knock on their doors. My favorite comment from someone was "Wow, I bet you like your job because you get to be outside." Ha, ha yes knocking and calling people a second time to check for quality assurance after they have already answered the census questions once is the BEST.

And Mozy....well after a while of being home I told Ben I was getting board. He told me they were hiring new people at work and he would see if they needed extra help for a few weeks. I didn't think they would go for it, but I got the job until my internship started. For 2 weeks I made calls to Mozy customers whose credit cards didn't go through. It was easy and the people I called were actually really nice. It was fun working with Ben and seeing a little bit of what he does every day, and the atmosphere of his workplace. The loaded break room, full of food, was great. I loved the hot chocolate machine and the fruit snacks, mmmm. New Mozy employees gain about 15 lbs. when they first come on because of this break room, and I can see why. I keep telling Ben that they need a dietitian to stock the break room.

So that's what I've been doing, but this week I went to orientation for my internship. Boy oh boy was this an eye opener to how busy I was actually going to be. Besides working in a hospital for 40 hours a week I have about 20 assignments and lectures to finish on my own time. (sigh) This all begins MONDAY. Only 3 more days of freedom. My clinical rotation, which I am most nervous about, is first up. I have only experienced clinical nutrition through books, worksheets, and case studies, no real live people. I can't wait to see how everything works and to learn from the dietitians at McKay-Dee. Everyone I talk to only has good things to say about McKay-Dee hospital and I guess my preceptor is really awesome. Wahoo!!! All the driving and being away from Ben isn't going to be fun, but hey it's only 9 weeks. I think time is going to fly!

Since I'm going to be driving to Odgen a couple times I week I hope to listen to many books on CD. An suggestions of things I should read?
