More reasons why I love fall

Corn Mazes! This year Cornbelly's Maze (best corn maze name I've ever ran into) at Thanksgiving Point looked like this. Not too elaborate. We're still trying to figure out how to get out.
At Cornbelly's, they had much more than just a corn maze shaped like the boy scout logo. There was a Witch who told stories, a pumpkin tree, a corn box (instead of a sand box), multiple insert-head-here photo opportunities, a left turn only corn maze, slides, tractor bikes, a haunted inside of a dinosaur, and a
jumping pillow (featured pic). Way too much fun at Cornbelly's for one night.

What do you think about this as our Halloween costume?
Also, we were trying to be neighborly and made cinnamon rolls. They ended up like this.

I forgot how much I love candy corn, until I ate them all!

Fall Fun

We went on a double date with Janet and Clark. After dinner it was CARAMEL APPLE TIME!!!
They were in charge of crushing the oreos.

Perfect green apples for the job

Ben's skinny, long apple....or a pear!

We rolled them in oreos and rice crispies, and mmm they were good, including Ben's pear!

Who comes up with these phrases?

On a completely different note, I'm sure you're wondering about the tomatoes. Yes, they are still green. We're still trying to turn them red with green bananas. I eat the bananas after their greenness has gone away and replace them with new ones. And, yes the neighbor across the parking lot was confused as she thought she saw us "picking fruit." She checked out our vacant tomato plot the next day to find nothing and then asked Ben at church if we were picking fruit the other day, because she couldn't find our picking post. (we dug up the roots and disposed of the evidence)

Harvest in Full Force

My little corner of tomatoes and carrots had become a jungle. I decided it was time for harvest. I called my crew and we got to work.
The crop

3 red tomatoes and the rest pure wicked witch green tomatoes (in the spirit of Halloween)

Lots of green tomatoes. I looked to a couple of sources on how to make green tomatoes turn red. 1st my grandma and 2nd Google.

How to ripen tomatoes: Plastic bag method - For a few or many tomatoes

Assemble plastic bags. Punch a few "air circulation" holes in each bag you are going to use.

Place 3 - 4 tomatoes with 1 banana in each bag. Depending on the size of your bag, you may be able to add more (or perhaps less). Be guided by the size of the bag, tomatoes and banana.

Store in a warm, semi-humid area away from direct sunlight.

Here suggested using an open cardboard box for getting tomatoes to turn red is suitable for numerous tomatoes. Line the box with newspaper and place a layer of tomatoes on top. Although a second layer can be added, do this only when necessary, as tomatoes are prone to bruising. Add a few ripening bananas and place the box in a cool but slightly humid area away from sunlight.

Grandma's advice: Wrap in newspaper and keep in a cool dry place.

I'll see how they progress and let you know when I have red delicious tomatoes or maybe we'll have a Halloween party with bobbing for tomatoes if nothing happens:)

Any other suggestions on how to turn these green tomatoes red?
